Before moving on to Good Life Step # 3, let’s stay on the subject of Belief (Good Life Step #2). Napoleon Hill wrote in the greatest personal development book of all-time, Think and Grow Rich, “What the mind of a man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” The most important factor in that statement is believe. In one of the top five personal development books of all-time – Psycho-Cybernetics – author Maxwell Maltz says, “Change the self-image and you change the personality and the behavior.” Maltz goes on to say, “Positive thinking does indeed work, when it is consistent with the individual’s self-image. It literally cannot work when it is inconsistent with the self-image.” Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, either way you’re right.” (I’m an archaeologist of mindset, personal greatness, and psychology… I love the older stuff written by those who came before us.) One the many superpowers you can intentionally install into your life is belief. A tried and true belief in your ability to imagine, fantasize about, get crystal clear on, become intentional with your thoughts and efforts… and achieve the life of your dreams. Here’s the catch… Belief is not a destination. You do not one day arrive to find the perfect weather and the white sand beaches of belief, and finally get to live comfortably in paradise for the remainder of your beautiful existence. Nope. Doesn’t work that way. Belief is like a Lighthouse. Belief is part of your Good Life philosophy. When the seas get rough and the darkness comes (it always comes), you can look to the Lighthouse for guidance. You can return to your true north when you are crystal clear on what you want, why you want it, and in what you have belief in – both consciously and subconsciously. Now as we move on the Good Life Steps #3 and #4 (both of which are tactical), Steps 1 & 2 compound in their importance. I cannot stress the importance of Step 2 enough. You simply CANNOT achieve the Good Life without Belief. See you tomorrow with Good Life Step #3. Yours completely, Bart “You Gotta Believe” Vickrey
