The 3 Keys to Real Estate Success

For years I’ve told people that I can take anybody off the street and have them earning six figures in real estate sales within 3 years!

All they have to do is follow the plan that I have outlined.  The plan consists of the most dollar productive activities in real estate sales, consistency, practice, patience, etc.  No big deal.  The problem is that I have yet to find a person that will do it.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have agents on my team that do extremely well.  But they still only do about 50-65% of what is recommended for success is real estate sales.  We can go into the details of the strategies and tactics in a later post.  I wanted to simply share the 3 Keys to Real Estate Sales Success…

Here they are:

  1. Reasonable Intelligence: yes, I know this one should be obvious.  But let me clarify. Rocket scientists do not normally do well in any type of sales.  Morons have a tough time with most everything.  So it’s very importance to have reasonable intelligence.
  2. Connect-ability: probably not a word, but bare with me.  You must (for high level real estate success) possess the genuine ability to connect and build rapport with people.  The #1 mistake of all sales people is that they try to sell something.  You build rapport first, show you an expert in your field, and then anything is possible.  Remember people if given a choice will buy from people they know, like, and trust.
  3. Desire: ok, it was easy until you got to this one.  Desire is the hardest to define and the most important.  You must have the desire to succeed and better your life.  I know, this should be a given… but it rarely exists.  People talk a good talk, but rarely can back it up with the walk.  There is a huge gap between what people Can do and what people Will do.  Having a burning desire to better your life only exists in about 3-5% of the U.S. population.

I’m thinking about having a contest in Northwest Indiana (my real estate market).  I will run ads offering an opportunity to build a career.  Earn six figures in 3 years or less.  And the first person to $100,000 in commissions earned will get $25,000 and other awesome prizes.

They will have to join my team of course and be committed to following the success plan that I have for agents.  Maybe they will even have to record a video diary a couple times a week and keep a blog journal of the journey.  That would make for some interesting viewing.

It would be interesting to see how many actually took me up on the offer.  Deep down I think most people know they don’t have what it takes… unless excuses is what it takes?  But we know it’s not!
